Last weekend, our Women's senior squad wore rainbow arm bands to join in with the current WorldPride celebrations happening in Sydney.
We acknowledge that while sport can feel like a haven or a safe space for many athletes, it can feel the complete opposite for gender-diverse and queer people. Taroona FC is a friendly and welcoming sports community, and everyone involved with the club makes a conscious effort to make football more inclusive of LGBTQ+ people.
A display of these colourful armbands is a small gesture, but we hope it speaks volumes. A big thanks to our Women's captain, Daisy, for organising the initiative.
