Last weekend saw a win and a loss for our Men's and Women's teams, respectively. The Men's Championship team, under knowledgeable coach Llewyn Tubb, is proving to be the side to beat this year. We're seeing a disciplined playing style from the team as they sit pretty at the top of the Summer Cup ladder, currently ahead of University on a goal difference of 2, after a convincing 3-1 (Jake Stuart 2, Toby Dove 1) win over New Town Eagles last Saturday. Young keeper, Scotty, doesn't know whether the upcoming game against Kingborough will bring him more action in goals, but either way, we're hoping our lads can stay victorious and at the top of the ladder after Round 3. Head over to KGV this Saturday to catch the kick off at 2pm.
Our Senior Women's side suffered an unfortunate 0-4 loss against the Clarence Zebras last Saturday morning. After conceding an early penalty and then 2 more goals in the first half, our Women's team fought back hard in the second half but couldn't put any goals away. Sitting smack bang in the middle of the Summer Cup ladder, their sights are now set on last placed Metro FC this Friday night. You can cheer them on 8pm at North Chigwell, where we will be hoping for a better result than last week.
In other news, the WSL Development League is launching this weekend, with our Dev team travelling up North to take on Launceston United at their homeground, WMPS Park, at 12.30pm. Wishing the new team all the best of luck in their travels and game.
