Our WSL Pirated travelled down to the Lion’s Den to take on our friendly neighbouring Kingborough on Friday evening for a Round 7 catch up game. Our Pirates started the game strong, even after an early change in gameplay after Mei Booker was removed from play due to injury, but couldn’t tame the Lions, losing the game 0-5. Our U18’s took on South Hobart White on Wednesday night at Kelvedon, and suffered a narrow 0-1 loss although they fought hard to stay in the game. Well done to our young Pirates on a great season! Their improvement and dedication to the game has been apparent to all who have attended their games. A huge thank you to the supporting parents and volunteer staff, especially coach Pally Gee, for your time and efforts this year.
Last Saturday, our senior Men’s teams welcomed the Kingborough Lions to Kelvie. The Championship 1 Pirates served the Lions a hiding, thanks to a hat trick by young Jasper Gardner, a brace each by Toby Dove and David Abbott, and a goal by Henry Ralph and Alex Clarke to top off the 9-1 victory. In the Men’s Championship game, Fergus Bridge provided a hat trick and Oliver Maxwell added a goal also to win the game 4-2. The Championship Pirates dominated the first half, and while the Lions looked like they could maybe come back in the second, the home ground advantage sent our Pirates sailing home safely.
Our Men’s Championship 3 team travelled out to D’Arcy Street on Sunday to take on South Hobart. They seemed to be in control of the game from early on, winning 3-2 thanks to Daniel Lancaster and Daniel Mcgill. They are the only Taroona FC team playing at home this week, so get on down to Kelvedon to support them if you’re free on Sunday! Wishing all our teams the best of luck this weekend.
