This week started on a positive note for our Pirates, as our Men's Championship team saw victory in the Lakoseljac Cup Preliminary Round. Our lads took on a feisty Metro FC side at KGV on Monday afternoon, with Pizzarazzi Player of the Match, Fabian Natoli, leading his crew to a smashing 4-2 win.

Oliver Maxwell found the back of the net only 6 minutes into the game, but the team could not hold the lead as the opposition equalised later in the first half. Perhaps a peppy half-time talk put some wind in our Pirates' sails, as they returned to the field with renewed bravado. Tom Roberts scored within minutes, only for another frustrating goal to be conceded shortly after - equalising the score once again. However, Ben Schaap and Noah Gardner added to their goals to the tally, with the win progressing our Men's Championship team into the next round of the Cup.

This weekend sees our senior squads starting their 2023 Season at home! The last time our Men's Championship team met their Hobart City Beachside FC counterparts was in the Summer Cup, with HC Beachside narrowly winning the game. Hopefully our Pirates can keep all 11 players on the field this time and outplay the opposition at full force. Our Women's Super League team will be taking to the field straight afterwards to host the travelling Launceston United SC squad. They will undoubtedly hold a certain level of confidence going into this game, knowing they managed to overpower the 2022 Women's Super League winners in a friendly match earlier this year.
