Saturday saw our Senior Men’s teams out at Gunn Oval, where our Men's Championship team tied with Hobart United FC while our Men's Championship Reserves suffered their first loss of the season. In the Ressies game, our Pirates found themselves down 0-4 after a demoralising first half. They were able to return to the field and put in a resilient effort, with POTM Ted Moffitt scoring a brace in the process, bringing the final score to 2-4. The Men’s Championship game was another tough battle, with Charlie Howcroft putting in a disciplined performance at defensive midfield, and Fergus Bridge picking up a slice of cheese and then scoring the first goal of the game shortly afterwards. Our Pirates sadly couldn’t keep the lead, with the home side equalising and making for a 1-1 tie.

On Sunday our WSL squad travelled up to Launceston for Round 5 of the league. A shaky first half saw our Pirates in a 0-5 deficit at half time, but they buckled their bootstraps and returned to the field with new-found grit. The 0-8 defeat was not pleasant, but our WSL Pirates look forward to returning to Birch Ave this Saturday to take on Launceston United SC in the Statewide Cup Quarter Finals.

At home on Sunday, our Men's Social team seem to have found their form just in time for their Social League Div 2 Quarter Finals this weekend, notching a win against the Clarence Zebras FC. After finding themselves down 0-1 early in the second half, they dug deep and came up with the results. Kasper Deane scored a brace, and Llewyn Tubb also nabbed a goal of his own to bring the final score to 3-2. Afterwards, our Women's Social took on South Hobart FC at Kelvedon, with the team suffering a 1-6 defeat at the hands of the visitors. Well done to Holly Mayo for scoring a first half goal, and well done to our Social Pirates for giving the opposition a tough and almost even second half.

Most of our senior teams now have a break while the Quarter Final Cup games are being played, but you can catch our Girl’s U17 squad at Kelvie as they take on South Hobart FC in the Statewide Cup. Best of luck to all our Pirates this weekend!
