Last week’s wet weather put a dampener on the game schedule, with all of Sunday’s home games being postponed due to a very soggy Kelvedon Park. Luckily, it looked a lot better on Saturday, and was home to a WSL double header after the Kingborough Lions’ WSL team was ousted from the Den. Our Taroona FC WSL team later took on South Hobart FC, in a tough match which saw the opposition as victors. The 0-2 scoreline was indicative of the tight match with the League’s top team, and our WSL Pirates remain on the hunt for their breakthrough moment this season. They travel to Devonport tomorrow morning, so be sure to tune in to NPL.tv to stream their game at 12.15pm.
Meanwhile, over at Clare Street oval, our senior Men’s teams were taking on the New Town Eagles, with both our Championship and Championship Reserves teams vying for the number one spot. Our Ressies had an unfortunate game, with the opposition dominating the 0-6 scoreline, but our Championship Pirates fared a little better, stealing a point from the ladder leaders in the 1-1 tie. Fabian Natoli played a phenomenal game, scoring the equaliser in the 28th minute, and later holding strong in the back line after Liam Ransome was awarded a red card. Super keeper, Isaac Scott also had the game of his life, pulling out some top quality saves in the second half to keep the score level and earning him Pizzarazzi’s POTM for the week.
This weekend sees a break in Youth and Junior games for the school holidays, but our seniors are still playing so get on out and support them in Club colours!
