Match Centre

Our Social Women’s team kicked off the year with an epic win! Gals by Sophie Booth, Mia Patton, Lauren Jarvis and Mia Woodfall contributed to the 4-0 victory over South Hobart FC. Our Women's Social Pirates have had their match against Newtown Eagles postponed. More information to come when the match will be rescheduled. Our Social Men’s team were matched against the Olympia Warriors for their first game of the league. They started strong, with Jack Leitch opening the scoring in the 14th minute and slotting away a penalty in the second half to bring the score level, but unfortunately a goal from Emerson Kelly and Jack’s brace wasn’t enough to prevent the loss for our guys. Rug up and come along to support our SL3 Pirates who play after our Women's Championship side at KGV this Sunday!

Our senior Men’s teams started the year in a dominant style over the Clarence Zebras. The “ressies” dominated the whole game, with youngster, Arlo Milne, opening the scoring at the 7th minute. Tom Roberts scored a hat trick and super coach Matt Chapman also got his name on the score sheet. The cherry on top was Llewyn Tubb sealing the deal in the 54th minute, making it goal number 6 for his side. Our Men’s Championship Pirates are going into this season hungry for more silverware and it showed on Saturday. Keeper Isaac Scott kept a clean sheet, with Sam James, Declan Taylor, and Toby Fleming all contributing to the 0-3 victory over the home side.

Friday night saw our U18 Girls team take on Glenorchy Knights at Prince of Wales Bay in a tough opening match. Hannah Graham-Smith was the lone Pirate scorer. Our WSL team also suffered a rough defeat as they travelled to Devonport on Saturday to take on the Summer Cup runner’s up, the Strikers. The first half saw some outstanding defending from Esther Graham-Smith, but eventually the Strikers scored just before half time, after wave after wave of relentless attacking. Our Pirates didn’t fare much better in the second half, with the score rising to 0-5 by the end of the game. They now look to take on South Hobart at Darcy St on Sunday.

Best of luck to all our teams this weekend, let’s make sure to get out and support our Pirates!
