Last weekend was a tough one for our Pirates, with a few tough losses despite some incredible efforts shown. Down at South East Complex, our Senior Men’s teams took on South East United. Our Men’s Championship 1 team were first up, conceding 3 in the first half and unfortunately only gaining two yellow cards in the second. It was a bitter end to the unbeaten status of our ressies, but we look forward to cheering them back into their winning ways soon! Our Men’s Championship team also suffered a tough defeat, despite Cooper Bain opening the scoring in the 2nd minute of play. Unfortunately the celebrations were short lived, as the game resulted in a 1-6 loss. Our Senior Men’s teams now look to host New Town White Eagles at Sherburd Park on Saturday, while we await our return to Kelvedon Park.

Sunday saw a smorgasbord of Taroona teams playing, with our Women’s Social League 1 team also down at South East United early in the day. While Mia Patton scored, the game ended in another 1-6 loss. Our Women’s Social League 2 team had better luck, with a 3-1 win against South Hobart FC (2 goals to Cara Middleton, and 1 goal to Mia Patton). Our Men’s Social League 3 team also took on South East United, but hosted them at Sherburd. A brace to Kaspar Deane and an additional goal to Max Waters brought the overall score to 3-1. Well done to our winning social teams!

Our Women’s Championship team had a tough match at New Town taking on the top-ranked Eagles. Sumali Buamee was able to score in the second half, but it wasn’t enough to make up for the deficit with the opposition winning 1-6 (surely invoking a sense of deja vu throughout the Pirate ship). Meanwhile, our WSL Pirates were at The Den taking on our neighbouring Kingborough Lions. After a competitive first half which saw some close scoring opportunities from our WSL Pirates, the Lions pounced early in the second half and eventually won the game 0-3. Our WSL team is at The Den again tomorrow, this time hosting Launceston United. After two consecutive Bye rounds, our U18 Girls team now takes back to the field, so we look forward to cheering them on this Sunday.

Best of luck to all our teams playing this weekend! Let’s rug up and get on out there to support our teams, starting tonight when our Women’s Championship team takes on Olympia at Sherburd Park.
