On Friday night our U18s Girls team played an amazing game where they dominated the midfield and possession, but unfortunately lost 1-0. Coach Maddy Lane says she “Was extremely proud of the team’s efforts and determination!”

Saturday saw our Men’s Championship 1 and Championship team hosting University FC at Sherburd Park. Our Ressies unfortunately lost 1-3, with a goal to Darlyton Echetama. Our Championship Pirates later sought revenge, winning their match in a narrow battle, with Cooper Bain opening the scoring only minutes after the starting whistle. A goal by Joel Terhell saw our Pirates going into the second half tied at 2-2, and an 89th minute goal by our reliable Oliver “Maxi” Maxwell was the cherry on top of an epic game. Well done to our guys!

On Sunday our Women’s Social L1 team had a tough battle against South Hobart, tieing the game 1-1 with a goal to Lauren Jarvis. Team Rep Shani says “the game was so close and everyone fought really hard. We had so many epic opportunities in the second half and really got possession.” Sunday also saw our WSL team taking on League newcomers in the Glenorchy Knights. Despite the first half being relatively even in opportunities and possession, our Pirates conceded early in the second half, and unfortunately lost the game 0-3. They now look to Riverside Olympic for their first win of the season.

Best of luck to all our Pirates who are playing this weekend. Let’s get on out to support the games, or follow along on the FT YouTube channel where the WSL game will be streamed.
