Most of our teams will enjoy a short break in the season while the first round of Cup games takes place.
Our WSL and Women’s Championship teams in particular will enjoy the opportunity to combine squads, as thinning crew numbers have continued to cause issues on game day. A late goal by Daisy Parsell in the Women's Championship game is perhaps the best example of our Pirates' never-say-die attitude, and the most uplifting moment from the weekend at Wentworth Park. We look forward to kicking off Easter Monday with a 12.30pm game, when our Senior Women’s team takes on University in the Statewide Cup.
Afterwards, our Men’s Championship team, still performing in great form, will take on South Hobart’s finest. Last weekend’s league rounds saw our Men’s Championship team tie with South East United 2-2 (Fergus Bridge, 1, Nicholas Kains, 1), with the result keeping them at a steady 4th place on the ladder. Our Men’s Championship 1 team enjoyed a convincing victory over South East United, with a hat trick by Henry Ralph contributing to the 6-1 scoreline (Jack Hudspeth, 1, Toby Dove, 1, David Abbott, 1). Our Men’s Championship 3 team also managed a tie, this time against the Clarence Zebras, with Samuel Barwin’s goal solidifying the score at 1-1.
We now look forward to a short break in the league, and wish evening a Happy Easter. Hope to see our amazing supporters at Kelvedon this Easter Monday for a great day of football!
