Our 2024 Season is almost completely wrapped, with our Men’s Championship 1 team finished on a high as they downed South East United FC 6-3. Harry Bruford scored a whopping 4 goals, while Samuel Driessen and Cooper Bain scored the remaining goals. Our Men’s Championship team unfortunately lost 0-4, with goalkeeper Isaac Scott being removed from play 30 minutes in due to a face injury, after which Benjamin McTaggart stepped in and held his own against a top notch opposition. Our Pirates had a fantastic season overall, finishing 2nd overall with 16 wins, 1 tie, only 4 losses, and a likely golden boot winner thanks to a very in-form Sam James. Well done to all involved!
Sunday saw our Social Women’s L1 team and WSL team at a very water-logged KGV, with the latter team playing through extreme wind, hail and lightning at some points of the game. Coach Bill says: “It was the last game for the Div 1. Social Women's Roster... a really competitive high standard passing game... 3 - 2 was the final score with everyone playing their roles really well... a lot of stand out performances... who will forget Daisy's back heal goal just one of the many fantastic moments... But the the player of the match who takes away the pizza was Chilli for her great Positioning, Bravery and overall brilliant goal keeping... well done Chilli and well done Women's Div 1 social team... Glenorchy won 3 - 2.”
Our WSL team now has their final game of the season this Saturday, and a final chance to lift themselves to a higher ladder spot. Our Women’s Championship team has had their UTAS FC game postponed to next Friday. Last chance to get out and support our teams this season! Best of luck to everyone in their last games.
